Wappapello – August 23/24, 2003 |

Wappapello was hot again. Hot weather-wise,
with temps soaring into the low 200’s (or so it seemed), and Hot
fishcatchingwise, with over 300 fish weighed in for the tournament. With all
of those fish, there were only 4 “double limits” (both members of a team
limiting out both days = 20 fish).
First place was taken by the Fanter’s (that would be Jim and Jim) with a
double limit weighing 17.45 lbs. Just a couple of pounds back, in second
place, were Scott Grobelny and Jeff Tschannen with their 18 fish. Third
place was another double limit by Terry Stanek and Bob Treadway. Rob
“crankerfoot” Cook, and Andy Shands took the fourth spot with their 17 fish.
Fifth place was another double limit posted by Jim Coyner and Bryan Walker.
Greg Shands and Bob Ray who finished in 6th position posted the last double
limit. Gary and Donnie Eubanks weighed 13 fish for 7th place, and Pam Wakim
and Scotty Mertz finished in 8th place with their 12 fish.
On Saturday, Terry Stanek posted a 3.70 lb weight for Big Bass, but Donnie
Eubanks’ Big Bass weighed in at 3.71 lbs, just edging out Terry from another
Big Bass award. As Donnie was writing her acceptance speech, good ole’
“Crankerfoot” brought up a fish that weighed 3.73 lbs. If memory serves me
that is the closest Big Bass finish we have ever had for 3 fish. Congrats to
Rob on his Big Bass of the “T”, and the “Second Place” award goes to Donnie
(remember Table Rock?).
Sunday’s Big Bass competition produced a nice 2.09 lb bass brought up by
Kelly Robinson. And Jim Coyner weighed in a 2.53 lber. But Tom Hornbeck’s
2.72 lber beat them both out, and took the Sunday pool. Congrats Tom.

Truman Tournament – Chili Supper
There will be a Chili Supper at the Truman Tournament. Plans are for the
feast to be held at the Osage Bluff Lodge. We will have chili, crackers,
chili cheese dogs, and corn chips. We will try to have food ready to eat by
6:00 pm. Bring your own drinks

Club Jackets
Well, it seems that now that everyone has seen the new club jackets, they
are all the rage. Since delivering the new ones over the past months, I have
had a number of inquiries as to WHEN are we going to place the next order.
The embroiderer has a minimum order quantity that we must meet. We will try
to compile another order before fall. So if anyone wants an embroidered club
jacket, please email Greg at

Thanks From Secretary Greg
I would like to add a personal note here. Sometimes things can get a bit
hectic trying to document all of our stats, and numbers get written down, or
added wrong, and need to be corrected. Thanks to those club members who
noticed and suggested corrections to the point’s sheet. I would like to
encourage everyone to check the stats over very carefully and let me know if
anything needs to be corrected.
Awards Banquet
Remember that the date for the Year End Awards Banquet will be October 25th,
at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Washington, MO. Dinner, trophies, club
awards, attendance prizes, and a few surprises for all who attend. Keep the
date open; you will not want to miss this one.
