Storms on Friday gave way to some
beautiful weather on Saturday and Sunday for the Stockton “T”, and the fish
were biting (for some). It was an evenly split tournament with 43 fish
weighed on Saturday and 47 on Sunday. But the big difference was WHO weighed
in the fish.
It seems there was a major change in patterns from one day to the next.
Saturday was OWNED by Greg Shands & Bob Ray with a 12.65 lb sack of 7 fish,
and a 5 pound lead. Even though they ZERO’d on Sunday, their weight held up
for a fourth place finish overall. Gary & Donnie Eubanks did the reverse.
They blanked on Saturday and came in with 11.76 pounds (5 fish) on Sunday
for a 5th place finish overall. The largest weight on Sunday was 12.48
pounds (7 fish) by Bill Fortel and Jason Mylar. Their advantage was that
they weighed 2.35 lbs on Saturday, for an overall 3rd place finish.
But, as usual, consistency was the name of the game. Brian and Kelly
Robinson weighed in 7.65 lbs (Sat) & 8.78 lbs (Sun) for a total of 16.43 lbs
and second place. Tony Pinson and John Maness had 7.85 lbs on Saturday, and
an even 10.00 lbs on Sunday for the winning weight of 17.85 lbs.

“Almost counted” awards go to Tom Hornbeck
for his “almost” caught 7lber on Friday, and Chuck Beach for his “almost”
caught 5lber on Sunday.
The non-species award go to Eric Neff, who apparently forgot about the
“bass” part of the rules, and caught 3 nice Walleye. |

Our 28 boats had 90 fish for a total weight of 177.57 lbs. Full details can

Angler of the Year Race
The leader in the Angler of the Year competition, Dave Sona, did not get in
the money this tournament, but still added 4 fish to his total. This is his
first “out of the money” finish this year. His lead in the “A of Y” Points
total is a little less, but still a commanding 24 points. Bill Fortel and
Bob Ray leapfrogged into a 3rd place tie. They are only 1 point away from
Neil Volkman, in second place, who didn’t fish this month. The rest of the
TOP-10 looks like this: John Luzynski (5th), Terry Stanek (6th), Ted Reim
(7th), Brian Robinson (8th), Teddy Reim (9th) and Bob Treadway (10th). Looks
like a good competition. It’s not a run-a-way yet. They are all great
anglers (that’s why they are in the TOP-10).

Tournament (yeah, we know, that’s July, but these jackets look S-O G-O-O-D,
you will want to wear it when it is 90 degrees).

Annual Awards Banquet
The date has been set for the Year End Awards Banquet.
It will be October 25th, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Washington, MO.
We will be presenting trophies/prizes to the “Angler of the Year” and “Big
Bass of the Year” winners for 2003. There will be plenty of good food, and
attendance prizes for all club members who have fished a minimum of two HH
tournaments during 2003. There may be a surprise or two also. Keep the date
open; you will not want to miss this one. |
