Results & News - March 2003 |
2003 Clearwater Results
2003 saw the Hawg Hawler return to Clearwater Lake, and Clearwater welcomed
us back with open arms and biting fish. Prior to the “T” there were many
comments regarding ice-breaker boats, ice covered ramps, hard frozen water,
and “what happens if….”. Well, these comments were put to rest with a
beautiful day that yielded a record catch for a single day. We had a total
of 305 fish weighed in by the 36 boats, for an average of 8.5 fish per boat.
The overall quantity record is 369 fish but that was for TWO DAYS (Wappapello
– 2002).
Our Memorial Tournament honored some Hawg Hawler members who are no longer
with us. A moment of silence was held to remember their friendships and
contributions to the club.
Last year at LOZ in March 45 boats weighed in 15 fish for an average of .3
fish per boat. What a difference a year can make.
1st Place

Ted Reim & Gary Medley
10 fish, 12.34lbs, 9 points each
1st = $264.00
BB = $180.00
Side = $155.00
First place was won by Ted Reim and Gary Medley. They caught their 10 fish
on Strike King Deep Diving Crankbaits. Ted had a lock on the Big Bass
Competition with TWO fish over 4 pounds. He also took the 50/50 side pot of
$155.00. Gary and Ted attributed their success to an unexplained inspiration
that led some to believe that there may have actually been 3 people in the
boat. It was determined that it was just the two of them in the boat, but we
think they received some “tips” from above. Also, they were wearing their
lucky Hawg Hawler Hats (which are available for purchase at all Hawg Hawler

FROM THE PRESIDENT'S BOAT…
With the first tournament in the books, I want to thank everyone for their
patience. I feel good about our first outing. Many fish were caught, the
weather was great, and everything went pretty smooth for our first
tournament of 2003. Congratulations to Ted Reim and Gary Medley on their
FIRST PLACE win, and to Ted for not one but two BIG BASS for the tournament.
There were a lot of other nice fish weighed by several other anglers as
well. Congratulations to all our place winners. We still have a few
tournament director spots open, so if you would like to get the two extra
points, just contact Donnie, and she will tell you what lakes we have open.
Again thanks to everyone who fished, it was great seeing everyone again. See
you at Table Rock
Gary
