Stockton Lake Tournament
The results of the 5th Hawg Hawler Tournament of 2004 were typical of
most of our recent outings… FEW fish were caught. Stockton Lake was no
different. Our 25 boats could only tally 20 keepers. The most ANY
single boat brought to weigh-in was 2 fish. That’s some pretty tough
fishing. Other species were biting pretty well though. Tom O’Connor
weighed in a 12.5 lb catfish, Greg Heinz had a 7lb cat also, and there
were reports of some decent sized “Carp Catches”. But the Bass were
definitely tight lipped.
The weather didn’t cooperate with us, either. There were plenty of
thunderboomers, wind, rain, hail, and lighting. Well, so much for the
“good” news. There was also a cold front that moved through in the
middle of the “T”. But, as they say, somebody, somewhere, WILL catch
fish.
Ken Luzynski and Dave McGarity out desistance the rest of the
competitors and won the “T”. Their 4.45lb stringer (2 fish) may not be
that impressive in the record books, but it was more than the other 24
boats could weigh in. Gary Stranghoener took the Big Bass of the
weekend prize with his 3.4lber, and Rick Armstrong took Sunday’s Big
Bass and the side pot of $110.00 with a 2.61lb fish. Full results, and
patterns (yeah, right) are listed below.
2005 Officers
Anyone interested in serving as a club officer next year, please
contact one of this years officers, and let them know that you are
interested. Prior to the end of the year, we hope to come up with a
duties list that defines the responsibilities of each officer
position.
Next Tournament
Our next “T” will be at Lake Pomme De Terre. As usual, we will be
fishing out of the State Park Marina. Pomme State Park Marina has been
a “Hawg Hawler Favorite” for many years. Please support them in your
travels to Pomme De Terre.
Please send your entries in early, and book your room and slip for a
good time at Pomme. Maybe this is the tournament that will break this
streak of low weights. Remember, the 2nd largest Hawg Hawler
Tournament Weight was posted in July at Pomme De Terre. If that is not
enough to entice you to attend, the winners said they caught their
fish on “baby 1-minus” crankbaits. There it is. You have the date, the
month, the lake and the pattern. Now all we need are some 30 pound
stringers to take pictures of. See you all Pomme.
