Mark Twain hasn’t changed
Jun, 2001 28 boats 4 fish total for the tournament (winning weight 2
fish = 7.38lbs).
Oct, 2002 32 boats 8 fish total for the tournament (winning weight 1
fish = 3.45lbs).
May, 2004 18 boats 23 fish total for the tournament (winning weight 4
fish = 7.57lbs).
The past three visits to Mark Twain have been extremely UN-impressive.
It’s usual stingy self was apparent with our May tournament. We could
only muster 18 boats to attend (and one of those was a last minute
entry).
To answer the question that was bantered around at the weigh-in… It
was back in 1998 (6 years ago) that we had a tournament with fewer
than 20 boats. This year we have had TWO of them (Bull Shoals and Mark
Twain). These two lakes were added to the 2004 schedule because of the
survey we took last fall.
Only 23 fish were weighed in during our 2004 Mark Twain visit. Two
keepers was the maximum that any individual angler could find, and
there were plenty of zeros on the tally-board. Of course we were there
following 3 days of rain. The lake was at normal pool, but lightly
muddy. The weather was typical May weather, with cool mornings and
warm afternoons. The faces of our members showed that they got their
fair-share of sun.
Congratulations to Steve Carnal and Brian Ameiss for finding a total
of 4 keepers (2 each), and outdistancing the field to get the winners
checks and points. Congrats to Bob Treadway on his Sunday Big Bass of
2.77lbs, and David Henley’s Big Bass for Saturday and the weekend of
3.24lbs. Dave also took the $85.00 side pot. It has been a long time
(if ever) that BOTH of the Big Bass winners DID NOT place in the
money, but it happened at Mark Twain. Congratulations to all of the
winners and participants. Full results are available on the results
page.
New Hawg Hawlers
The Hawg Hawlers welcome returning members John Luzynski, Allen
Mueller, Terry Haynie and Gary McFetridge. If these names sound
familiar to some, it’s because John, Allen and Terry are all former
officers of the Hawg Hawlers. Terry and Gary are the previous holders
of the highest wining weight record (until Dave Sona and Neil Volkmann
broke it last month). Welcome back to the club, fella’s. The Hawg
Hawlers would also like to welcome all of our new and returning
members to the club. We hope you enjoy fishing with us. Please let the
officers know if you have any suggestions, complaints, or praises for
the club.
Next Tournament
Stockton Lake is the next stop on the Hawg Hawler Trail. Hope to see
everyone at the State Park Marina, on June 12th and 13th. Saturday
“T”-times are 12noon to 6pm. Please remember that the water patrol
changed our SUNDAY start time to 6:30am, so weigh in will be at
12:30pm.
