Wappapello "T"
The Hawg Hawlers September Tournament was held on Lake Wappapello,
in southern Missouri. A big Hawg Hawler THANK YOU goes out to
Butch and Reggie, at Barretts Resort, for allowing us to have our
tournament there. Apparently Wappapello lived up to its typical
production for most of our anglers. It seems that most people bent
a rod a time or two, but maybe the rod didn't bend completely
over. A total of 282 fish were caught, with very few goose eggs
being posted. I cannot go into much detail, since I had a family
"thing" and couldn't attend, so you'll have to guess what the
weather and water conditions were like. See
below for complete results.
Awards Banquet
Please note the date/time of the 2004 Hawg
Hawlers Awards Banquet. For those who have attended in the
past, it will be at the same place as the last couple of years,
the Knights of Columbus Hall, in Washington, MO. The presentation
will start about 4pm on October 9th, 2004. Please be sure to send
in your RSVP so we can get a headcount. Any club member fishing 2
or more Hawg Hawler Tournaments (in 2004), will receive free
admission and be included in the drawing for some valuable
attendance prizes. Guests and other members who have not fished 2
T's may attend for a $9.00 fee (and no attendance prizes). It's
always a good time. Come and take part.
Angler of the Year Competition
The Angler of the Year Competition is heating up. Bob Ray
stretched his lead to 13 points, over Neil and Dave. But the last
tournament of the Year, at Lake of the Ozarks, can eat up 13
points in a hurry. Come and see the fight to the finish, on
October 2nd/3rd, at Runaway II Resort (Osage Arm).

TOURNAMENT RULE CHANGE
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
Our liability insurance carrier requires us to make the following
change to the wording in our tournament rules,
regarding alcohol consumption. Please understand that this is not
directed at, |
Hawg Hawlers 2004 Annual Awards
Dinner Date Set
The 04 HH Dinner and Awards Gathering will be on Saturday October
9, 2004 at the Washington KC Hall. Click the
Awards Dinner link for details. See
you there! |
or in response to, any individual or
event. This change is being made to comply with the requirements
of our liability insurance carrier.
This change is effective immediately, and will be strictly
enforced at all future Hawg Hawler Tournaments, starting with the
2004 Wappapello Tournament.
We understand that this may upset some of our members, and some
may leave the club because of it. To them, all we can say is that
we are sorry, and it was unavoidable. This is a requirement of the
insurance, and frankly we are one of the last bass clubs around to
strictly prohibit drinking during our tournaments. The language of
our previous rule was ambiguous, and today’s world, that is just
not explicit enough language.
In addition to the insurance requirement, this rule is being
adopted,
…to promote and provide for the overall safety of our club
members.
…to promote safe boating on the water, and a safer tournament
environment for all of our members.
…to be consistent with our desire to be a family oriented club.
…to be consistent with providing positive roll models for the kids
who fish with us.
…to represent the Hawg Hawlers Bass Club as a safety oriented
organization.
[ref: Old Rule]
Safety/Sportsmanship:
F5: All participants must obey all state and federal laws
pertaining to use of alcohol. Please use common sense and
restraint.
Please read the following rewording of tournament rule “F5”.
Please understand the reasoning and logic behind the rule change.
Please understand that this is effective IMMEDIATELY (Wappapello –
2004).
This rule will be added to the pre-tournament announcements, and
read at all pre-tournament meetings.
[New Rule]
Safety/Sportsmanship:
F5: No alcohol, or non-prescribed controlled substance, can be
used, during the pre-tournament meeting, and during the official
tournament hours. Drunkenness will not be tolerated.
Penalty (1st offense): Team disqualification from the tournament.
Penalty (2nd offense): Team disqualification from the tournament,
and possible further action based on the severity of the offense,
up to and including, permanent expulsion from the club.
Thank you,
The officers of the Hawg Hawlers Bass Club
