Big Winners
Well despite decent weather the fishing was tough. And not to help matters
out, the lake is so low, if they lowered it a little more we’ll start
calling it “Pond of the Ozarks”. But someone must win and that honor went to
John Luzynski and Dave McGarity. They had 5 fish total, two of which were
over 5 lbs. Saturday night John said all he had to do is put Dave on his
spot and sit back and get the net. So I guess John’s Guide Service paid off.
Because these guys brought in a nice bag of fish Sunday, (13.28lbs) to take
the lead. I’m guessing we’ll start calling that Dave’s spot now. They were
throwing carolina rugged baby brush hogs. For their efforts, they took home
$440. Good job guys.
Second place was a family affair with John and Darla Ketcherside with
16.46lbs. They were throwing white spinnerbaits. I can just hear these two
now at home. He’ll be telling all of their friends how he did all of the
work. BUT we know Darla is the anchor on this team. I’m not sure, but I’m
guessing she’s the one who caught that 4.61 pounder. It’s ok John. If you
can’t repeat that performance at the next tournament, then will know for
sure it was Darla. They took home $300 for their 6 fish catch. Good Job.
Another thing I heard was they were fishing near John’s spot, or should I
say Dave’s new spot.
Third place goes to a familiar name in the money, Bob Ray and his net man
Rob Cook. Bob had a huge fish weighing in at 7.12lbs. That took big bass for
the weekend and put him in front for big bass of the year. Speaking of
front, Bob also takes over the points lead for Angler of the year. Bob was
throwing what he called his homemade spinnerbait. But when I first saw this
thing it looked this some kind of patriotic spinnerbait. It was red, white
and blue, with a little chartreuse in it. As I was laughing at his homemade
creation, he brought in big bass. Needless to say, I stopped laughing, and
asked if he had any more of those good spinnerbaits. For Bob’s efforts, they
took home $186 for third and $140 for big bass Sunday and $195 in the side
pot. Thanks Bob, maybe next time I’ll help. As for me, I guess I deserve
coat tails.
Lee Asher had big bass on Saturday with a 5.35lb fish. He said he caught her
in the mouth somewhere in the lake. Funny man, huh? Later it was a white
spinnerbait.
The other placing positions were as follows: 4th Joe Arnold/Lee Asher
(14.46lbs) $122, 5th Russ Grobe/Ashley Booth (9.63lbs) $98, 6th Ron Hanephin/Tom
O’Conner (8.59lbs) $88, 7th Ted Reim/Gary Medley (8.48lbs) $76, 8th Greg
Shands/Andy Shands (7.98lbs) $66, 9th Jim Fanter/Brian Walker (7.24lbs) $56,
10th Lori Luzynski/Craig Gravatte (4.15lbs) $50
Next tournament is at Schooner Creek Resort on Table Rock April 23-24.

Fun Stuff
If you want a new $120 reel and a good rod just asks Teddy Reim where he
dropped his rod into the lake Sunday. All you need is some scuba diving
gear. Maybe at the next tournament we can give away some sticky stuff for
his hands. I also heard a story about a father son team. The father told his
son he didn’t know how to fish the lake and he needed to show him. Well Son
Andy Shands caught two nice fish that got them 8th place. As for the father
(Greg) he didn’t catch any fish. I’m sure if you ask him he’ll tell you he
was just staying out of the way. Good work Greg.

We had some great gifts to give away this tournament.
