Big Winners
Even with the dog days of summer Pomme is still producing some good fishing.
We had 31 boats and 165 fish caught. Just back in May there were 180 fish
caught. This lake always seems to produce fish. Jim Coyner and Troy Moore
had 8 fish for 12.18lbs to take the early lead on Saturday. They backed that
up with 7 fish on Sunday, weighing in at 10.61lbs, for a total weight of
22.79lbs. I believe this was their first time fishing together and it seems
to be working. They were throwing jigs and worms in the Pomme arm. Good job
guys, hope to see you guys fishing together in the club more. They took home
$320 for first place. Nice work guys.
Second place was Rob Cook and Bob Ray. Saturday wasn’t as easy on these
guys. They had 5 fish for 6.86lbs. But Sunday was a different day for these
two, they had double limits and a weight of 13.09lbs, for a total weight of
19.95 lbs. Bob also tightened the race for AoY, which looks like it’s going
to be a battle down to the last day of the year. These guys were throwing
PBJ jigs and brush hogs up the river. They took home $228 for second place.
Good job guys.
Third place goes to Steve Williams and Brian Schumacher. These two guys
finished third here back in May. And they caught about the same weight. They
also had a rough Saturday with 3 fish weighing in at 4.68lbs. And like the
second place team, Sunday was a much better day. They had the biggest bag on
Sunday with double limits and a weight of 14.22lbs, giving them a total
weight of 18.65 lbs. They also were throwing brush hogs. For third place
they took home $140. Good job guys.
The other placing positions were as follows: 4th Jim Fanter and Bryan Walker
(18.21lbs) $98, 5th Chuck Edlers and Russ Grobe (17.28lbs) $74, 6th Jason
Kennedy and Scott Hasty (13.68lbs) $64, Scott also had Big bass for the
weekend, a nice 4.45lber. For this he took home $116 from the club and $145
from the side pot. 7th were Terry Bost and Eric Neff (12.78lbs) $52, 8th
Greg and Andy Shands (11.05lbs) $50. Dannie DeArmon had big bass Sunday with
a 3.99lber, and for this he took home $116.
Next tournament is at Wapp (Millers Motor Lodge) Sept 17-18.
Who’s New?
Welcome new and past returning members. Joe Belford, Rich Eder, Karen
Goucher, Joe Hagen, Scotty Mertz, Kenneth Miller, Thomas O’Conner
Fun Stuff
Well it’s getting down to the end of the year with two tournaments left
and the Angler of the Year race is looking like a good battle, just like
last year. Chuck Elders and Bob Ray have just six points between them. And
Greg Shands isn’t too far behind these two guys. Ten points is all that
separates 6th thru 10th place. This is looking like a good battle to the
end.
I don’t know if anyone else was getting phone calls on their cell this
weekend with a fish laughing in the phone but I heard many stories like this
was going on. It seems that someone in the club dropped their cell phone in
the lake. And this little fish was calling most of the fisherman and
laughing it up. I guess nothing else was working so some people will try
anything just to catch fish. Expensive lure. Don’t worry Linda Armstrong;
your secret is safe with me. Also Lori Luzynski turned 29 this weekend at
the tournament, at least that’s what she told me. Happy birthday and your
presents are in the mail;)
Giveaways
This month we gave away a free night’s stay for two at
Cedar Haven Resort, which Jason
Kennedy won. Hola. You’ll have to ask Jason about that or we might tell the
story at the banquet. Also,
State Park
Marina gave away a free slip rental for the weekend. This went to Brooke
Beach.
Special Thanks To:
Linda and Shelly at Cedar Haven Resort. Hope to see you guys again next
year. Also we would like to thank State Park Marina.

From The Presidents Boat
With the upcoming end of the Hawg Hawlers season comes our Annual
Awards Dinner and Officer Election. This year it
looks like we will have all officer positions open for 2006 other than
Webmaster (this will not be an officer position in 06, Charlie has offered
to continue to take care of the website for us).
If you ever thought about being a club officer,
now is the time to think about it seriously. This is your opportunity to be
an integral part of this great club and give something back to it and its
members.
Anyone interested in being an officer, should
take a look at the officer duties
(see Article III of the bylaws)
for the various positions, so you will know what is involved and what is
expected of you. If you are interested in nominating yourself or another
member for an officer position, please let me know - the sooner the better.
You can email or talk to me
at one of the tournaments. We will be prepared for an election by majority
vote at the dinner for any positions that require it.
See you at Wappapello.
Teddy
