Big Winners
Everyone that enters into fishing tournaments is hoping to have a big day
and that’s exactly what Chuck Elders did by himself. Chuck had 4 fish
weighing in at 10.52lbs and he had Big bass 5.45lbs to boot. He said he was
fishing with his own homemade jigs, but I couldn’t pry any information out
of him about these secret lures (Smart Man). For his efforts Chuck took home
$390 for first place and $130 from the club for big bass. He also won the
side pot worth $180 giving him a total of $700. Way to go Chuck, and welcome
back to the club.
Second place was Russ Grobe and Bill Scheller with 6.90lbs. Anchored by a
nice fish from Bill of 4.63lbs, this just missed out on big bass. Once again
these guys also were using jigs, but I did get the color was brown. As Russ
put it at the weigh in, he was taking home coat tails. Good work Russ. They
took home $270 for their (or Bill’s) 3 fish. Good job guys.
Third Place with 6.08lbs was Bryan Walker and Jim Fanter. These guys are
starting out this year hot just like they finished it last year. They won
$166 for the 3 fish they had and Bryan had second big bass, weighing in at
4.95lbs. This got an additional $130. Their total was $296. I’m guessing
these guy’s like the new payouts. And I bet you can guess what they were
throwing: JIGS. Texascraw colored.
The other placing positions were as follows: 4th Bob Ray/Neil Volkmann
(3.27lbs) $112, 5th Terry Bost/Dave Jett (2.74lbs) $88, 6th Mike
Jankowski/Brian Jankowski (2.55lbs) $78, 7th Scott Grobelny/Jeff Tschannen
(2.25lbs) $66, 8th Ed Fileccia/Judy Fileccia (2.24lbs) $56, 9th Teddy Reim/DaveReim
(2.22lbs) $50.
Next tournament is at Red Oak on Lake of the Ozarks April 2-3. Don’t forget
we will be providing barbeque for everyone before Saturday’s tournament
around 10:00am.
Fun Stuff
Remember the first fish you caught in a tournament and how excited you were
and imagine if that fish was enough to get you a paying position. Well that
was the case with Judy Fileccia this weekend. She caught a nice fish
weighing at 2.24lbs. Just missing 7th place by .01 of a lb. This got her
team an 8th place finish. Nice job Judy. Next up Greg Shands. His fish was
so big, the scale could hardly read its weight (see photos page). I guessing
you got that fish out of some little kid’s fish tank. All kidding aside it’s
nice to have you back after being gone on your military duties last year.
Directions to Red Oak
From Camdenton, Travel North on Hwy 5 out of Camdenton. Cross over Niangua
Bridge then you will find Lake Road 5-65 on your right.
Red Oak Resort is
located approximately 1/8th mile down that road. Phone at 573 873-9400

Message from the President
Dog Days of March?!? Well, Clearwater is a lake of extremes. Last year
produced record bass and this year record heat….and a few big fish too. Just
wanted to say a special thanks to all who came out and those that were there
in spirit. Thank you all for your patience at take-off and Weigh-in. Things
go a little longer on the one-day tourneys. I’m looking forward to a great
year of fishing with you all and hope to see even more folks at Ozarks.
Giveaways
This year we decided to team up with the resorts we are staying at to help
out with the high cost of fishing nowadays. At Clearwater we started giving
away some of the new big prize’s. The first one we gave away was a FREE
weekend for two at Runaway II, with a value of $120. This went to Ted Reim
and Gary Medley, congratulations guys. We will be giving this same prize
away at each of the next 7 tournaments. THANK YOU
Runaway II. In addition to
that at each one of our tournaments we will be giving away a free nights
stay at the sponsored resort and some free slip rentals. The only
requirements for this are that you must be staying at the sponsored resort
for a two nights stay (Fri, Sat). If you have any questions, please let us
know and we will help explain it to you.
