Last month it was rising
water and “chocolate milk”. This month it was high winds and
thunderstorms. Even poor weather can’t keep us away. 41 boats signed up
for the Spring LOZ Tournament. Not a record but a great turnout none the
less. 142 members so far. We are edging closer to that 159 member record.
Winning Anglers
JD and Darla Ketcherside
hawled in 4 fish including Big Bass for both Saturday and Sunday for a total
of 14.44 lbs. Let’s do the math. $288.00 for the first place win. $138.00
for the Saturday Big Bass. $138.00 for the Sunday Big Bass. $200.00 for
the 50\50 side pot. That’s $764.00 for a weekends “work”. JD reported he
caught the 4 fish on White Spinner Baits.
2nd Place was
won by Ken McNeil and Jim Gross. Jim brought in 2 fish on Saturday and Ken
brought in 3 fish on Sunday for a total weight of 11.83lbs. They took home
$222.00 for their effort. They reported using Baby Brush Hogs.
The 3rd Place winners were
Terry Stanek and Bob Treadway. Terry hauled in 5 fish for a total of 11.21
lbs to take the 3rd place spot. They took home checks for $170.00 for their
effort. Terry and Bob reported they used Shad Raps.
80 anglers caught a total
of 56 fish. Please see below for a complete list of the finishers.

Angler of the Year
If you had to use one word
to describe the requirement for a person to achieve the status of Angler of
the Year it would probably be CONSISTENCY. Terry Stanek doubled the 19
points he earned at Clearwater to 38 with his performance at Ozarks. This
moved him into sole position of the top spot for AOTY by 8 points over JD
Ketcherside. JD rocketed from a tie for 43rd place to second place with his
outstanding performance at Ozarks. Big Bass both days and the 1st Place
finish locked him into that spot. Sole position of the 3rd place spot is
Larry Rutledge. Larry’s outstanding performance at Clearwater and an 8th
place finish at OZ put him in that spot.

TableRock History
2005 was a very good year
for HawgHawlers at the Rock. We had 25 boats sign up for the tournament
As it turned out only 24 boats fished on Saturday and only 23 fished on
Sunday. Out of those 23 boats, 21 weighed in fish. 31 of the 42 anglers in
the tournament weighed in fish. The first place winners were Teddy Reim and
Rob Cook. Teddy weighed in 7 fish and Rob weighed in 2 with a total weight
of 24.16 lbs.

Tournament Directors
Special thanks to Greg
Heinz, Dan Durbin, Ken Jones and Dick Swann for their performance as
Tournament Directors at OZ.
The TD’s for TableRock
are: Saturday – Greg Shands and Andy Shands. Sunday – Mark Landis and
Thomas Love.
All of the spots for
Tournament Directors have been filled except for Pomme De Terre – May –
Sunday and Wappapello – September – Sunday. Please help us fill these last
two spots. We have received a number of requests for Teams to serve as TD’s
more than once. Unfortunately, we cannot award more than one TD spot to the
same Team until after June 1. We have started a waiting list for Tournament
Director spots. This list will be used to fill any outstanding or new
openings for Tournament Director. Please contact Bob Treadway, Tournament
Chairman to put your name on the list.
Directions to Lake –
Schooner Creek from Springfield Missouri
Take Hwy. 65 South to exit
EE. Go West on EE 3 miles to Hwy. 160/13. Turn left on Hwy. 160/13 to

left where you will turn on Kimberling Blvd. Curve around on Kimberling
Blvd. 2 blocks to another Schooner Creek Resort sign on the left. Turn left
on Schooner Creek Rd. and this will bring you right to the office. This
route is approximately 45 miles.

Club Business
As a reminder, your
Tournament entry form and fee MUST be received by 5:00 PM the Wednesday
before the tournament. All tournament documentation, is generated just
after that 5:00PM deadline. Any entries received after the deadline are
subject to the following penalties:
- Take off position is
moved to the last position for both tournament days.
- Those anglers with a
late entry are not eligible for attendance prizes
- Since the checks are
generated before the late entries, the payouts are based on the number of
boats entered as of the deadline.
Please plan ahead and send
in your tournament entry and fee early.
From The Presidents Boat
I would
like to thank everyone who attended the (spring) Ozarks tournament at Red
Oaks Resort. Even though it was one of our largest tournaments ever, with
over 40 boats registered, the livewell checks, take offs, and weigh-ins were
very orderly, and came off without a hitch. This is a credit to everyone
who attended. With a large number of new members this year, our “seasoned”
club members did what they were supposed to do and the new members could
easily see the procedures, and fell right in line like old pro’s. A B-I-G
“Thanks” to everyone who makes the officers, tournament directors, and weigh
in committee’s, jobs easier, and consequently the tournament itself a big
success.
