Tournament Schedule
We applied for permits this past week and it normally takes a few weeks to
get them back. We usually don’t encounter any problems and we don’t
anticipate any but please remember that the schedule is not official until
we receive all of our permits.
MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS EARLY, especially for the Table Rock tournament.
There is another large tournament that weekend and resorts will start
filling up around the end of January.
Classic Tournament
We have added a Classic Tournament to the schedule which will be held on
October 6 at Lake Shelbyville. We have not selected a resort or
take-off/weigh-in site yet but as soon as we do the information will be
added to the schedule. Here are the
Classic Rules .
Classic Tournament Rules
This will be a one-day 8 hour tournament and the last tournament of the
season.
A) To be qualified for the Classic Tournament the member must have fished a
minimum of five regular season club tournaments (the Classic does not count
as a regular season club tournament).
B) The Classic is “team” fishing only. There must be two anglers per boat.
In the event that an odd number of members qualify or a qualifying member
does not choose to fish the Classic, the member with the highest number of
points in the standings, regardless of the number of tournaments fished,
will qualify so that an even number of anglers are available to sign up as
teams.
C) Qualifying members must sign up as a team. BOTH members of a team, boater
and non-boater, must qualify in accordance with section A above.
D) Qualifying members who sign up as a team will fish from the same boat but
a modified draw will take place prior to the start of the tournament. The
boater will draw a non-boater name and that non-boater will be their weigh
in partner.
E) No alternates or substitutes can be used in the Classic for any reason
regardless of the situation.
F) The Classic is not a regular season tournament. No Angler of the Year
points will be awarded for fishing this tournament.
G) All anglers fishing the Classic Tournament must pay a $60 per boat entry
fee. $50 of this money will be used to create the Classic tournament pot and
$10 will be used to create the Big Bass pot.
H) The Classic tournament pot payout will be as follows:
Example based on 20 boats.
First (1st) Place 50% $500
Second (2nd) Place 30% $300
Third (3rd) Place 20% $200
TOTAL 100% $1000
I) The Big Bass pot payout will be $10 times the number of boats registered
(20 boats = $200).
J) There will be an “optional” $20 (per boat) 50/50 Big Bass side pot, half
paid to the participating Angler weighing in the heaviest bass of the
tournament and half will be used to pay for Classic plaques and attendance
prizes.
K) No regular season Club funds can be used for the Classic Tournament. The
only funds that will used for the Classic are:
1. Classic entry fees
2. Classic optional 50/50 Big Bass side pot
3. Any other money raised specifically for the Classic
L) There will be a 3 fish limit per angler.
M) All other regular season Hawg Hawlers Tournament Rules apply to the
Classic.
N) Plaques for the Classic Champs and Classic Big Bass will be presented at
the Awards Dinner.
From
The Presidents Boat
By Pam Wakim
We are doing our best to bring you an exciting 2007 tournament season and we
made some changes that we would like to bring to your attention.
Concerning Tournament Rules - One significant change was adding a 10
inch length limit on those lakes that do not have a length limit. We see
that a lot of the bass brought to weigh in at Lake Wappapello measure
between 10 and 12 inches so we don’t believe this will greatly reduce the
number of fish weighed in (and we won’t need our sandwich bags any more ).
We also rewrote the trailering rule to try and better interpret the intent
of that rule.
Concerning the Point System – We felt that the current system was
weighted to heavily on place points. We looked at the Point System using
lots of different scenarios (I mean LOTS) and we made some adjustments. We
raised creel points from 2 to 3 points per fish and attendance points from 2
to 5 points. Tournament Director points were raised from 2 to 3 points but
we added a limit of only 3 points per angler per year.
One idea that we are really excited about and we hope you will be too is the
Classic Tournament. This is not a regular season tournament so no Angler of
the Year points will be awarded at this tournament. Members must qualify for
this tournament by fishing a minimum or 5 regular season tournaments. The
Classic Tournament Rules can be found on the Schedule and Entry form so
check it out to get all the details.
Please read all of the 2007 documentation - Tournament Rules, Classic Rules
and Point System (there are other changes not listed here). If anyone has a
question please contact any of the 2007 Officers.
Last but not least I would like to thank some people;
To the members who sent us suggestions - Thank
you! for your input.
To the 2006 Officers - Thank you! for your advice and your support.
To the 2007 Officers and Webmaster – Thank you! again for all your hard
work.
From
Cuz's Boat
By Greg Shands
Well here it is December, the boat has been
winterized and covered up. The 2006 season is over. Looking back, it was a
pretty good year. A lot of good fish were caught and more importantly a lot
of new friends were made. I think that’s what sets this club apart from the
rest.
We had two new people winning the coveted Angler of the Year and Big Bass
trophies this year. First, I just want to say, way to go Charlie. Guess you
showed your boy he wasn’t the only one in the family who could do great
things with a fishin’ pole. Now for Teddy, congratulations on your fish and
you too got a family thing going on. Makes me proud to see you following in
your dads footsteps. Now you have got to go for the Angler of the Year
award. I got to say it sure was fun harassing you right down to the end over
it though. Anyway, way to go to both of you guys and just remember that we
all will be gunning for your trophies next year.
My wife just walked by and asked me if I was
making my Christmas list, I said no and she said that if I wanted anything
for Christmas I had better make one. Wrong thing to say to a guy who just
found his Bass Pro Christmas Wish Catalog, which by the way was sent out
last month. I found it in a rather odd place. It was in the spare bedroom,
bottom drawer of the dresser under 5 years worth of people magazines. I
asked my wife about where I found it and all she could say was that she
didn’t throw it out. ( go figure )
Anyway let’s look through the catalog. The first items are the rods, says
here that this one has the backbone to land the meanest bass in the lake ,
yet the tip is so soft you can feel the water move from the bass that is
about to bite your lure. (WOW!!) Also says it is virtually indestructible.
Bet they never tried to stick it in the blades of a 104 lb thrust, 36 volt
trolling motor on high speed.
Next up are the reels. This one claims to have a 12 to 1 gear ratio, for
burning those crank baits and buzz baits back to the boat at mach 2 , but
still have the strength to crank in all the hawgs you’ll catch in your life
time. Also says here that this reel has 23 super smooth ball bearing for
extra smooth and long casting abilities. Now the only thing long casting
means to me is that the back lash you’re going to get will involve all the
line on the reel not just the First 10 feet of it . ( you’ve all been there;
you know what I mean.)
OK here’s the lure selection, lets see this one said its guaranteed to catch
the biggest bass in the lake, wait so does that one and this one here does
too. Hey wait a minute I’ve been a good boy this year so Santa please bring
me one each of everything to include size and color on pages 57 - 289.
Boy, you guys better watch out next year ‘cause I’m going to get all the
right lures to catch all the fish. And since Santa is gettin’ it I might
even have me one of those Walker jig thingies!
In closing I just want to say that I hope this
holiday season brings joy and happiness to the entire Hawg Hawlers Family
Merry Christmas to all and to all good fishin’ next
year.
P.S. special note to Steve Carnal’s wife: Dear Mrs. Carnal I spoke with
Santa the other day and it seems Steve has been a bad boy this year and
Santa said he wasn’t getting anything. So if you don’t mind would you please
get him some little something and put it under the tree so he won’t cry
Christmas morning.
Thanks.
