I predict that this will be the
year we break all of the previous records. We begin this tournament season
with 119 members. That is a “before the first tournament” membership record.
We have 52 members who were not members in 2005. That shatters the previous
record for new members set in 1999 when we had 35 new members. We are well
on track to destroy the previous membership record of 159 members. Our first
tournament of the year had 49 boats. That breaks the previous record set in
2002 when we had 45 boats at the March LOZ Tournament. This is going to be a
great season.
Winning Anglers
Rising waters and less than
perfect water conditions could not deter 98 anglers from attending the first
tournament of the year.
Mike Parmentier and Larry Rutledge hawled in 4 fish, including a kicker of
4.29lbs, for a total of 6.87lbs to take home 1st place and $324.00. They
reported using Green Pumpkin Brush Hogs.

2nd place was won by Ted and Teddy Reim. Teddy weighed in the big bass of
the tourney at 6.04lbs. Ted added another “keeper” to raise their total to
6.30lbs. Ted & Teddy took home $238.00 for their 2nd place finish and
$393.00 for Big Bass for a total of $631.00. Teddy used a Crawdad Wiggle
Wart to Hawl in the Hawg
The 3rd place winners, Dave Sona and Neil Volkmann, brought in 5 fish for a
total of 5.58lbs and took home $186.00 for their effort. Dave & Neil
reported they used Watermelon Brush Hogs.
38 anglers caught a total of 64 fish. Please see below for a complete list
of finishers.

Tournament Directors
Thanks to Terry Stanek and Bob Treadway, Tournament Directors at Clearwater.
They spent 45 minutes checking livewells, collecting Big Bass Side Pot and
issuing boat numbers at the biggest ever HawgHawler tournament.
The TD’s for Lake of the Ozarks are: Saturday – Greg Heinz and Dan Durbin.
Sunday – Ken Jones and his partner.
All of the spots for Tournament Directors have been filled except for
Wappapello – September – Sunday and Pomme De Terre – May -- Saturday. Please
help us fill these last two spots. We have received a number of requests for
Teams to serve as TD’s more than once. Unfortunately, we cannot award more
than one TD spot to the same Team until after June 1. We have started a
waiting list for Tournament Director spots. This list will be used to fill
any outstanding or new openings for Tournament Director. Please contact Bob
Treadway, Tournament Chairman to put your name on the list.

Club
Business
As HawgHawlers Bass Club officers, our
primary objective is to provide our members with a professionally managed
club. We received a number of comments regarding the standard we established
in the organization and efficiency of the Clearwater Tournament. We set the
standard very high. We believe, and the positive feedback indicates, that we lived up
to that high standard. We were very efficient at Clearwater but the weighin
at that lake is easier in that it is not necessary to measure fish. We are
concerned that our efficiency may suffer when we add measuring fish at the
LOZ Tournament. The club is growing fast as was evidenced by the number of
records we have already broken. We have also added a laptop to record
weights during weighin in an effort to increase the efficiency both during
and after the tournaments. The Officers were all fully involved at the
Clearwater weighin so adding measuring fish at the other tournaments is
going to require another person. The Officers have therefore decided to add
another Officer position. We have created the position of Co-Tournament
Chairman. We have contacted Terry Stanek and he has agreed to help us out
and fill the new position. Terry has been a HawgHawlers member for 19 years
and was part of the original group that founded this club. Terry also has 6
years experience as a HawgHawler Officer. He will definitely be an asset to
our officer team.
As a reminder, the optional 50\50 Big
Bass side pot cannot be paid with your mail in registration. It must be
paid at the lake.
