Banquet Recap
(by Greg Heinz)
The banquet came off better than expected. We had 55 members sign up, and
another 25 guests or so. We had a really good meal from Hagies Catering,
with many members asking for doggie bags to take food home. Hagies was very
accommodating to us, by setting up quickly so we could eat a little sooner
than expected. The program was shortened a bit also, to allow members and
guests to get home early to watch the Cardinals
whoop up on the Mets (that’s always a lot of fun).
As
with all banquets, we reviewed the club stats, financial and membership, and
also the tournament year. We reviewed all of our valued
supporters for the year - showing all of their
logos on the 8' projection screen. Plaques were presented to the
Winners of each tournament and those who won the Big Bass at each
tournament. We also presented plaques to the top 10 finishers in the Angler
of the Year competition.
Charlie
Beach was presented with a G-Loomis IMX medium heavy rod, a customized club
jacket, a personal 14 x 17” photo plaque to keep, and the traveling trophy
for being the 2006 Hawg Hawlers Angler of the Year. Teddy Reim
continues
the legacy begun by his father, Gene Reim, by winning the Big Bass of the
Year Award. Teddy was presented with a
G-Loomis IMX medium heavy rod, a personal 14 x 17” photo plaque to keep,
and the traveling trophy for catching the 2006 Hawg Hawlers Big Bass of the
Year.
Attendance Prizes worth over $7,500.00 were awarded to those members
present, who fished 2 or more tournaments in 2006. Most members received two
attendance
prizes. The average value that each
member
received was $136.00. A HUGE thanks goes out to all of our
supporters - without them, our tournament year
and the dinner would not have been the great success that it was. The
MAJOR prizes that were given away included, a Portable GPS unit ($500.00
value), a 5 night stay at Lakeside
Resort at Table Rock Lake ($250.00 value), a G-Loomis IMX series 6’ 6”
MH rod ($235.00 value) , a
George’s 7’ Custom Graphite Rod ($200.00 value), a 3 night stay at
RunAway II Resort at Lake of
the Ozarks ($195.00 value) , a Bass Pro
Shops Pflueger Rod & Reel Combo ($120.00 value), and TWO $100.00 bills. The
Raffle Drawing was for a 2007 club membership plus ½ of a boat entry for all
of the 2007 club tournaments ($245.00 value). A special thanks to raffle
ticket salespersons, Brooke and Mark. You both could have a future in sales.
Overall, the banquet was a huge success. The 2007 officers are busily
updating where necessary, and preparing the 2007 schedule. For the rest of
us, it’s time to just have to sit back and wait for spring. See you all
then.

Starting a New Year
(by incoming President Pam Wakim)
That’s right! Your new Officers have already started working toward the 2007
tournament season. One of the first decisions we made to save our club money
is to use the “Suggestion” link on our website in place of mailing surveys.
It is your club and we want to hear your ideas. We are in the process of
reviewing all club documentation and setting up a new schedule for next year
so if you have any suggestions for tournament rules, points system, payout,
the tournament schedule or any new ideas, please let us know. You can use
the suggestion link, message board or email any of the officers by clicking
on the “Contact Us” link. Please let us know what YOU want.
We have also added a new position this year – Club Historian. Yes, even
though Greg Heinz has been called our historian for years, he is now
official. This is a non-officer, non-voting position similar to Charlie
Beach’s Webmaster position. Greg will work in part with the club Secretary
in keeping club records. Thank you for accepting this position Greg. We look
forward to working with you.
2006 was a great year from the first cast at Clearwater to the last goodbye
at the Awards Dinner. It will be hard to top in 2007 but these new Officers
are up to the challenge. Each one cares about this club and is excited about
the upcoming tournament season. Watch for our first newsletter in December.
It will have all the information you need for 2007.
