1st Place -- Brian Walker and Jim Fanter
Walker and Fanter did it again. This is their second tourney in a row. Brian weighed in 5 fish on Saturday and Jim weighed in 4. Their Saturday weight of 13.79 lbs was good enough to put them in the 1st place spot on Saturday. Sunday was not quite as good. Brian weighed in 4 fish and Jim weighed in 2. Theit Sunday team weight of 12.08 lbs gave them a Tournament weight of 25.62 lbs. They took home $274.00 for the first place win. Brian and Jim reported they caught the 15 fish on the “Walker” jig.

2nd Place -- Ken Jones and Jason Jones
Jason weighed in 2 fish on Saturday. The keepers eluded Ken on Saturday. Their team weight was 4.39 lbs. Sunday was a different story. Both Ken and Jason both weighed in 2 fish, including a 4.48 lb Big Bass for Ken, for a Sunday weight of 11.33 lbs. Their total tourney weight was 15.72 lbs which was just enough to lock them into 2nd place. They took home $214.00 for the 2nd place win. They reported using crankbaits.

3rd Place -- Steve Carnal and Dennis Wentzel
Steve weighed in 4 fish, including a 3.59 lb Hawg, and Dennis weighed in 1 fish for a Saturday team weight of 12.18 lbs. This weight put them in the 2nd place spot on Saturday. It was a little tougher on Sunday as each angler only weighed in 1 fish. Their total team weight of 15.39 lbs locked them into the 3rd place spot. They took home $164.00 for the 3rd place win. Steve and Dennis reported they used crankbaits.

Angler of the Year
Well, it is official. Charlie Beach is the Angler of the year. Charlie accumulated 105 points this season. Charlie fished all 9 Tournaments. He weighed in 30 fish. Charlie placed in 5 Tourneys. He weighed in the Big Bass for the weekend at the Mark Twain Tourney. Charlie also served as a Tournament Director for 2 additional points. Congrats to Charlie.

Big Bass of the Year
It is also official. The Big Bass of the Year is the 6.04 lb Hawg weighed in at Clearwater by Teddy Reim. Teddy has been on pins and needles all year thinking that the 6.04 lbs would not be enough to give him the top prize. Congrats to Teddy

Jason Jones

Club Business
Nominations for 2007 club officers were held beginning August 1st and ending August 31st. The following nominees have accepted these positions:

Pam Wakim, President
Greg Shands, Vice President
Andy Shands, Secretary
Scott Hasty, Treasurer
Ken Jones, Tournament Chairman
Mike Jankowski, Tournament Chairman

Chili Cookoff
Another chili cookoff, another huge success. I wonder if the October tourney attraction is the great fishing or the annual chili cookoff. A round of applause is in order for the group responsible. We really appreciate the hard work that went into planning this event. A big Hawg Hawler cheer for Dottie Reynolds, Cathy McGarity, Craig Gravatte, Lyla Durrer Charlie Beach and Kathy Hencken for helping with the chili and helping in general. Let’s not forget the leader of this pack, Lori Luzynski. She was the person who put it all together .

From The Presidents Boat
By Greg Heinz
I would like to use my “Prez Boat” space to give a few well deserved thanks. First to the 2006 officers, who did a great job this year. Pam dug and prodded and got us many of the prizes that have been given away, and more that will be given away at the dinner. Dan did an excellent job on the newsletter and statistics, and was a great partner for the year. Lori kept everything balanced, as usual. Terry and Craig kept the weigh-ins running smooth. In addition, I would like to thank Charlie and Bob for their continuing support of the club and its officers.

I would also like to thank the volunteers for the 2007 officer positions. Pam’s organizational abilities will guide them through 2007. I wish them continued success in leading the club into the future. Remember, we are a club of members, and everyone contributes. ALL past officers are at your disposal, if you need us.

Lastly, I would like to thank each and every 2006 member who joined and/or fished with us this year. Without you, there is no club. With you, there is a continuously growing group of anglers, who have discovered that there really is a thing called “friendly competition”.

To sum up, we had a few bumps in the road, but the 18th year of the Hawg Hawlers was a great success. We set a new record for attendance. We had plenty of competition that went down to the very last weigh-in. And we have NEW people taking home the Angler of the Year and Big Bass of the Year trophies. It has been a pleasure to work with this group of officers and members, and serve as your president for 2006. I’m looking forward to 2007.

Thank you.
